The blue faced honey eaters gave this fellows hide away. Although common, It is rather unusual to see them, boobook owls, although you hear them regularly at night. Their distinctive calls echo across the valley, "Mo poke! Mo poke!". They are one of the smaller members of the our owl family being about 30cm in length. Although he never moved, wherever I went to try and capture a shot without leaves in the way, he spun his head to keep his eyes on me. He seemed to spot me long before I spotted him.
