The snake pit (see my upload 3rd August) is being converted into a garden bed. When I had my lunch break all the black and white birds in the area coverged to feast on the newly disturbed soil. Viewed large you'll find a peewee or magpie-lark on the grass, a magpie under the tree, a butcher bird in the tree and a willy wagtail on a young leafless fig tree in the background. Even a black chook came to join the party.
@lornavale Yes. We extended the fence around the old chook house and the green panic that surrounded it attracted grass eating birds which we loved to watch from the verandah.
