My extended neighbourhood is undergoing rapid change. After bowls I dashed up to the local shopping centre for a few items before heading home to peace and quiet 54 km away. I was in a hurry to beat the dark but finding a carpark at this hour was almost impossible. Because Gladstone is bursting at the seams with construction workers accommodation is at a premium and very costly. Many have moved to the rural areas to access cheaper rentals and drive to pick up points where buses transport them to their work sites. This carpark in Calliope, meant for shoppers, fills with work vehicles around five o'clock as the nightshift workers leave for work and the dayshift return at the end of their 12 hour shift. I was a little jaded as I dashed to pick up my few bits and pieces.
However my mood lightened on my return. The sun was shooting shafts of light between the cars...beautiful... but when I brought it up on the computer it was the bird flying home to roost that made the shot for me.
June word - jaded
@jenrobcarr You bet....Trucks, trucks and more trucks as well as every shape and size of machine seems to be on the roads that were never meant for this amount of traffic.
The photo almost tells two stories - one the rapid industrial progress and then the beautiful sky with roosting bird - so peaceful! The frame adds to the picture.
@jan11 That's what took my breath away when i finished shopping. I left the car so cranky with the world and returned to this and all I could do was grab the camera and think to myself..."Wow...life's still good"
