So Long to the Season 2

The end of winter signals the arrival of my favourite little bird, the rainbow bee-eater. I've been celebrating our glorious early spring weather, clear blue skies with afternoon showers, by spending the morning in the garden and been entertained by the antics of these little fellows. They are now choosing nesting sites. As they nest in burrows in the ground, the barbed wire fences are favoured landing pads.

They are just beautiful. We don't get them here but I do see the occasional blue kingfisher and I think these birds look a little like them.
