Red

The bottlebrush is covered in red brushes but rain (beautiful rain) and birds have wrecked almost ever one but it still looks spectacular from a distance. This is the tree the flying fox rested in yesterday. He flew away at dusk and I've seen no sign of him today so here's hoping my rescue was successful.
Simply exquisite!

This is such a well known plant, you can guess what it's called simply by looking at its blooms! Very striking!

So pretty. I'm glad the bat has flown away, it sounds like he may be ok.

@pyrrhula There is a chatter of honey eaters all day feeding on the flowers but I see butterflies, flies and other insects on the tree as well. Even the fruit bat (see my previous post) woke in the afternoon and moved around through the tree licking the nectar.

@gilbertwood They must need the sunshine because my trees have only have flowers on the sunny northern side until now. Only an odd flower has opened as yet on the darker southern side.

@koalagardens You are righ tabout the birds, the old leatherheads ( noisy friarbirds) sit in the trees by the hour with there raucous "four-o-clock, four-o-clock" ringing out across the garden.
