...the sad news. Last night I noticed several of the ducks were missing at lock up time. I'd been to a meeting and didn't shut the chook house door till 9:00pm. During the night Mopsy had gathered up the evidence of a fox attack and brought it to the front steps ready to share with me when I woke in the morning. That is the poor old headless drake she is guarding. In front of her are two headless female ducks. Three of the five taken by a marauding fox before I closed the door. The other two of the poor things obviously became a meal for the fox but Mopsy brought the ones he left behind home to share with me what had happened. You've got to love a retriever!
@janeandcharlie She was sleeping. I think she was exhausted after her night's activities. It was sad but it did make me laugh when I got over the shock. Her she was sound asleep surrounded by dead bodies. It was as if she was trying to protect them ...but too late to be of any use. Bless her.
