Fallen Giant by ubobohobo

Fallen Giant

A mighty strangler fig has collapsed opening the forest floor to light and spewing the trunk of its long dead host from its clutches. Vines now rush to use its mighty branches as highways to the sky while lichens and fungi feast on its broken limbs. Defiantly its one surviving branch waves its leaves on high thumbing its nose at the surrounding gums. The snake-like roots support its stance and pump nutrients to the emerging regrowth sprouting from the shattered trunk. Life begins again. One is left to wonder how many years the rampant undergrowth has to enjoy blue sky and sunlight before this stoic fighter reinstates its dominance. I’ll be watching in awe.
Fascinating -- and the collage is a perfect way to show the range of aspects you discuss.

Loved your narrative! It is so neat watching the cycle of trees and forests and fields ... how one slowly transforms into another!
Your collage perfectly captures all the changes of this cycle.
A FAV!
