It has been a long and eventful day today, but I wanted to use this post to capture a little of the American spirit and optimism. I took this shot close to Soldier Field where they were showing the USA vs Belgium game. I am a Brit who has lived in the US for nearly 20 years, but I am still overwhelmed at times by the optimism and patriotism of Americans and their belief that nothing is impossible. That said I have to believe that England will win the World Cup again before the American’s do for the first time.
So many other good shots to share today I think I need to start an alternate album, but I am tired so maybe tomorrow!
Great shot and commentary too. Love it. It was such a good game too, full of passion. However, there aren't too many that share your optimism about England
You feel overwhelmed by the American patriotism but they definitely went much further than UK. I enjoy reading articles before the Cup began, where they were making fun of little Costa Rica, that they were going as "tourists" to Brazil, but those "tourists" are now in Quarter Finals, and its group mates Italy, Uruguay, and UK were out in the first round. Of course patriotism bursts and we are celebrating.
@anazad511 lol, yes it is not easy being an England fan right now, but then it never is. There is so much pressure on our side to succeed every time they set foot on the pitch and so often they fall short of their perceived ability. As for Costa Rica they surprised a lot of people, I shall be cheering for them on Saturday.
I do hope so Ukandie, would be very embarrassing otherwise! The Patriotism in America is completely ott in comparison to the UK, and looked down upon by us, but I think more of it is needed, less of that British reserve! Great picture of those patriots. My sister is marrying an American so I will soon be getting in the spirit!
