From my Window! by ukandie1

From my Window!

I am trying to stay true to my original plan to take and post a photo every day, but it is hard. Yesterday I took enough photos to post for a week or two, yet today nothing.
This is the view from a window on the side of my house, it is not very picturesque, but there is something about it that always calms me, there is a solitude about it that I like.
I really like the golden glow in this. Very nice.

@mpratt Thank you Mark.

Very rich light and so serene. Lovely. Don't worry... but it is hard. I have found myself shooting items in my kitchen drawers at times (whisks are awesome, especially in b&w). :)
August 12th, 2014
@rosiekerr lol, don't be surprised to see a picture of a whisk in the near future Rosie. I will dedicate it to you!

The golden color is great!

I understand what you said but... First, it's not a bad picture. It's a good one that means something to you and can evoke profound emotions to someone else. You never know! What I learned so far is: we can't decide for others. We can't be 100% sure if they will like it. We have to let them be who they are. Let them like what they like... Do what you like the way you want and be happy. Finally, I tried to make a picture a day everyday and I have to admit I can't. So, You do as you want but I'll be happy to see the picture you took even if it's not the picture of the day. I'd like to feel that you are happy and proud to show us your work. I hope I was not to rude with you, my point is no one will accuse you of doing the right thing! Tomorrow Andie xx

Wonderful. I was hit and miss in my first year, because I was really "new" to this, and was also the executor of my dad's estate, and had my hands full. The second and third year I was much more dedicated, but still had some fillers here and there. Now, in my fourth year, I have very little free time due to geriatric kitties, and being responsible for some of the childcare for my grandkids, who now live with us. I am not very good about taking photos daily because I just don't have time. I truly miss it. It's like meditation for me. I spent a lot of time taking photos of very mundane stuff, including popcorn, vitamins, coffee beans, etc. I have my phone or P&S with me at all times. You never know when the most random photo will be one that just grabs people. I try to post the photo I love the most, not the one I think will be the most well received. Anyway, I really enjoy your photos!

And I meant to say, those mundane popcorn shots and all the rest really allowed me to learn and hopefully improve.

@daneau @nanalisarocks Thank you Marc and Lisa you have given me a nice reality check, and made me think (in a good way). I still hope to post a new pic every day Marc, too often I start things and don't finish them, and for what ever reason this is something I do not want to give up on. But I need to stop being too hard on myself, and remember to have fun with it. You are so correct Lisa, sometimes the shots we think are random can become great shots in the eyes of someone else, and with in the short time I have been posting here I have learnt so much. Thank you for the encouragement.
August 12th, 2014
@nanalisarocks and if that random shot means nothing to anyone else than me that is ok too.
August 12th, 2014
I have days like that too but the comments above have articulated my feelings on it perfectly. I like this shot and I especially like the fact that it's personal to you.
August 12th, 2014
@fjmom Thank you!
August 12th, 2014
@anne_k Thank you!
August 12th, 2014
I really like this, especially the colour. Think we'd all agree how hard this project really is. I'm now off to find a whisk too lol
August 12th, 2014
@ukandie1 I would love a whisk shot. Also, graters are pretty "great." Ouch. Hang in there.

August 12th, 2014
Lovely light and colour, when stumped you become incredibly creative, so it's all good :)
August 12th, 2014
I hear you so much!! I have tried really hard to stay true to once a day no matter what, but somedays you have so many good ones and you just want to show only the good shots. I think different people have a different take on the project. For me it's just trying to stick to something and realizing overall I am getting better, even if I can't show it here everyday!
August 12th, 2014
totally know what you mean but in my head it feels like cheating.

a wonderful shot, love the warm tones contrasting with the trees.
August 12th, 2014
I really like this shot the colours are stunning. Finding a picture every day is difficult. I agree with the comments above we need to post what we like and are pleased Sometimes others will really like it and other days not so much but we are the only people who know how much thought and effort went into it and if we are happy with what we post that's what matters.
August 12th, 2014
love this
August 12th, 2014
Beautiful golden color. To me, posting every day is the thing. And yes, some days I'm not too satisfied with what I have.
August 12th, 2014
@vstap @pittcj17 @thistle @andrewkru @dollycreek @carlt Thank you so much everyone. If I did not have this wonderful community I know I would not be able to keep this up. You are all an inspiration. Thank you again!
August 12th, 2014
@jess1204 I agree with what you say. I look at where I was when I started this project and how much I have learned since being here and I can see a great improvement.
August 12th, 2014
I post pictures daily but doesn't mean I'm taking photos everyday-it's your project,u can do/post whatever/whenever u want-the secret is-- to have fun creatively:)I've been here for almost 4yrs.now,i deleted and gave up my 3 previous accounts but came back again and again-why,because am having fun-the first year was really hard but after a while,u'll realized that's not healthy to please everyone--so do yourself a favor-----shoot and enjoy!!love the shot,btw.Also,if I may-I browsed on your albums,it's cool and eclectic,maybe u can develop a certain style,like for example-black and white, minimal,artsy florals,portraits-etc..and stick to it-in that way-you don't go crazy on what to shoot daily-hope u understand what am saying-difficult for me to type and explain well( am dyslexic)..and hope you don't mind me suggesting this-just want to help and share:)
August 12th, 2014
I've never been to Chicago but I believe you have great architecture like NYC-so my suggestion is maybe, shoot Architectures in mono-:)p.s.-am giving myself a high 5, I've never ever write something this looooong..:)
August 12th, 2014
Absolutely! It really is a challenge! To come up with an idea, get a decent shot of it, upload, write about it, and all on top of working/other things in life - it is hard to keep up and sometimes keep motivated. I have recently found it hard to keep up with the posting. Taken the photos each day but then not having the time (too many trips!) during the day so doing a mass upload. I think it goes in phases - sometimes you have more time for 365, sometimes you are just not really that motivated. The key thing is to just go out and take some pictures, of anything! My tip is to take your camera everywhere (cumbersome with a DSLR, I know!), sometimes you just see a great shot, but sometimes a phone shot creeps in as it is easier!

I like this picture, it proves you don't have to go far (even leave the house!) for a good subject!
August 12th, 2014
WOW! This is very striking. Great shot. I guess we all have that "blah" moment. The key here is to just enjoy your project. That is why I challenged myself to the Numbers in Numerical Order project so that I can really finish this project this time (its my 3rd try) and having fun doing it too. And I am also committing to same theme monthly challenge for myself so I don't need to look and think of inspiration every single day. =) It works. =)
August 13th, 2014
Well nobody said this project will be easy, but you always have to remember... not every photo has to be a masterpiece :)
That being said this photo is stunning. Hang in there :)
August 13th, 2014
We had the same thought; it's not always easy and frustrating sometimes...
But I try not to take it all too seriously and just enjoy the process. And every day there is a new chance :-)
This shot is wonderful!
August 13th, 2014
Love the colors you captured in this! I am very familiar with that feeling though at the end of the day if I have nothing to post. I've been a little lenient if I have a super productive day before (figure all that time processing has to count for something!). But this is a great shot!
August 13th, 2014
Jo
Beautiful photo!
August 13th, 2014
@annalarkham Thank you Anna, I never expected that this post would get me these responses, I just posted the shot and thought it would be largely ignored. It has made me realize what a great community this is, and it makes me more determined than every to keep this project up, even if I do choose to use some fillers, which i am not sure I will do.
August 13th, 2014
@merteskid Thank you!
August 13th, 2014
@ladygator Thank you Nancy. I have to admit on reading some of the comments I am starting to agree with your way of thinking, the time it takes to process shots accounts for something, and if I use a shot that was from a day or two in the past is it such a bad thing.
August 13th, 2014
@angeliekevl Thank you for your kind words, and you are correct every day brings something new.
August 13th, 2014
@mikekutz Thank you Mike!
August 13th, 2014
@altadc Thank you so much. I am so amazed at your number project and the time and creativity it has taken you, and I love your monthly challenges. You are an inspiration.
August 13th, 2014
@joemuli Thank you for your long and thought provoking response. I am definitely going to think on what you and @daneau said. Maybe I should not be so tied to this ideal that I have in my head. I really appreciate your thoughts and comments, and am slightly in awe that it is humble me who has provoked you to write so much. I say that with a smile on my face as I like to have fun, but all jokes aside thank you for your comments.
August 13th, 2014
@ukandie1 I agree whit Joey @joemuli 100%. Have fun Andrea! Enjoy life and enjoy taking and publishing picture. It's the best way to find our way!
August 13th, 2014
@joemuli one more reply to your comment. When I started this project my sole purpose was to start using my camera and move from the automatic setting, I had no direction or purpose. Now a few months in I am still not sure what my style is, but I know what is not my style and I know what i like to view, so I will use that as my starting point and try and narrow it down. Once again thank you for your kind and constructive comments :)

August 13th, 2014
I never would have guessed how hard it is to take a photo every day - especially for me - someone who LOVES taking pictures! I think you are doing a rocking job. I love your photos. Keep it up!
August 14th, 2014
amazing golden view from your window. To you it might be boring, looking out at that beautiful tall trees and seeing birds.....
