An Eye into the Sky! by ukandie1

An Eye into the Sky!

Another shot from my photo trip with @taffy and @jyokota at Dominican University. This is the spiral staircase in their library. It is the same staircase as Taffy took ( http://365project.org/taffy/365/2016-02-11 ) though I think mine ended up a little more abstract, the moment I saw this shot on my computer I thought of it as an eye. And here is Junko's wonderful capture http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2016-02-14

As the saying goes best on black! And also something I might work on a bit more at a later date.
Love the curves!

This is stupendous. At first I thought I wanted more detail in the dark areas, but the top parts of the spiral are so stunning, I found the stark contrast to be quite powerful. This is a prize winner. Big fav.

@stevecameras I know you asked me the question about how I do my b&w conversion a few weeks ago,and I kept meaning to get back to it. I am about as nontechnical as they come, so please excuse the following description, I tinker with my shots and had to think about what I normally do. I do all of my conversions in LR, by first using the b&w tab about a third of the way down the panel.I like contrasty shots so tend to push the contrast, shadows, and clarity to the right, and the highlights to the left, and then adjust from there. Also when in B&W I make the tone curve an s shape. That said I did all of that with my canon raw shots...now I have a fuji and am finding I am doing a lot less, the files coming out of my little x70 are far superior to those from my trusty canon...so not sure this is any help.

Great shot shots by you and TaffyR! Congratulations to you both on top twenty.

@ukandie1 Yes it is always good to read about how other people do it, to learn something new and to sometimes know that I might be doing something similar to others.....
I use CameraRaw but I can follow your workflow as the two programs are very similar! Glad you are enjoying the new Fuji.
I think I am going to get more glass for mine rather than go back to Canon.
