The past few winters have been rather mild (well mild for Chicago), which has disappointed me! There has been very little freezing of the lake and river, and after the fall that was abnormally warm I thought this winter would be more of the same! However we are in the midst of an arctic blast. I had to go downtown today for some errands and took this quick shot of the river, can't wait to get out after the new year and head out to the lakefront. What can I say I love the cold!!!
As is often the case best on black!
Wonderful capture, we are having warm weather here and had a heatwave with temps reaching 40 degrees C just before Christmas. Now the temps are in the mids 30s.
Fabulous! Oh how I would love to see this! Also if it freezes to see the Lake! I remember such stunning images from a Taffy @taffy of the frozen lake and lighthouse. Wrap up warm but get some great shots! Xx
@ukandie1 @jyokota...yep...that's what I was thinking, depending on Junko's schedule. I may have an appointment to go to with Jim but am waiting to find out when. It would only be for an hour.
Wonderful image, looks very cold, like all the different shades of grey, almost monotone were it not for the splashes of yellow and red in fore and background.
Now this looks as cold as Chicago is. I have a granddaughter that is going to school near Madison so I keep getting freeze warning updates for your area! Be safe and keep warm! Beautiful image and processing! FAV!
I love how you captured natures chaos of ice and the regularity of the houses. great comp and tones. This picture really tells the story of the freezing. Stay warm.
Another fav! I agree with Mona @mona65 on this one. The organic nature of the ice contrasts wonderfully with the rigid structures, and that slightly curved bridge truss in between just makes the transition between those two area perfectly.
