Rajasthani lady by veengupta

Rajasthani lady

This matriarch from Bhuleshwar in the busiest area of our city personified a life a century ago. I took this tour which took us to old streets where commerce and temples coexist. My husband's family migrated to Bombay in the early 20th cc. and lived in this area.. They dressed like in the small towns and villages of North India. ..the metropolis grew and fortunes were made here.
The lady is respected as is seen from the stance of the man. She wears her gold jewellry and ghagra, choli and odhna (Skirt, blouse and scarf). Her forehead has sandalwood after her morning prayer.
I wanted to post this although it was not shot today as I like it.
so interesting. Must have been a fascinating tour.

Love the way you explain the culture through dress and attitude. So much said in a moment.
