52-week challenge: Week 2, Landscape

Posting this for week 2 of the Dogwood 52-week challenge: Landscape. I really tried to get a "traditional" landscape, which is the task for this week. But somehow, human element crept into my picture no matter what. I didn't persist though - no time today and it was freezing cold. Note to myself: taking pictures in the clothes I wore to work is a bad idea. Put some warm gloves, hats and comfortable boots into the trunk.

@newbank I am soon glad to hear I am not the only one who struggles with this. I might try again tomorrow - dress warmly, ditch the heels, and the schedule is more relaxed than it was today. :)

Stunning capture;)

Love the compression of those rolling hills with that 300mm focal length. I find myself enjoying tight landscapes often more than the usual wide angles

Really like the rolling hills too, bonus with the different lines and trails in the grass.

I think the human element is your foreground element. I like the lack of sky. There's a czech fellow who does this sort of landscape. Love it.

I like the inclusion of the human element Vera. It emphasises the depth of the shot. Great landscape capture.

Dear all, thank you so much for your comments on the not-so-landscapy-landscape. I was looking at the "whole" picture first, but then decided to zoom all the way in on those rolling hills, which (in order not to claim originality) reminded me of many photographs I saw of green luscious hills rolling into the horizon! I am glad I had enough zoom to just have that take-out. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment - it's always very motivational to read your opinions!

@jinximages I couldn't agree more! I guess I am often "overuse" my zoom, but on the other hand, it lets me take out pieces of reality that are cool in isolation from the whole. And the compression adds just a notch of that surreal feel to it. Recently, I saw a lot of landscape here on 365 that were shot with the portrait orientation. I also noticed I liked those more than the wide-angle traditional landscape as well - the vertical framing is a nice way to capture the attention with something in the foreground, and let the eye travel up to the further layers.
