What would you do? A poll, of sorts :)

I am trying to nest in my office. Here are three options - which one would you pick????

Option 1: put the desk against the empty wall on the right. A plus - light coming from the left, sideways view of the entrance door (behind the camera). Minus - staring at the prison-like cement wall.

Option 2: put the desk against the left wall under the bookshelves. Plus - use the wasted space under the shelves. Minus - light comes from my right.

Option 3: pictured here. Desk facing the window. Plus - relaxing view of tree tops/sky. Minus - sitting with your back to the door.

I myself can’t decide. Curious what everyone thinks. Thanks!
Personally I’d like to see the view

Empty wall to the right. You could still see the view whenever you wanted by simply turning your head that direction. LOL

Consider where the sun is especially early and late in the year. Facing the window with low light you will have the sun in your eyes. Even with left and right in bright sunlight you will blinds to stop glare on the screen. With my office I wish I had placed the desk with the light behind me, although it would have stopped me seeing the garden without turning around, from a work perspective it would have been better.

I have my window to my left with a mirror to my right reflecting the light. I’d put the desk on either wall and hang some beautiful photos you’ve made

I could not sit with my back to the door, so I could not sit facing the window though it's a nice view. I really dislike the blank whiteboard wall. I would prefer to look up at a bookshelf if I were to put the desk against a wall.

In my office spaces I've always sat facing the door, with windows behind me. In this space I would try turning the desk around and putting it somewhere mid-room placing the short side against one of the side walls. I would put the visitor chair in front of the desk, while leaving yourself private space between the desk and window. This would leave access to both walls, which have their individual purposes. I don't like reaching over a desk to write on a whiteboard, and wonder how inconvenient it would be to reach over the desk to parts of the bookshelves were the desk put along a wall.

With the desk and your chair facing the door, window light would fall over your shoulder. I don't know if you would not like that or if that's ok. I also can't tell how much glare would be a problem, but it looks like you have blinds to control that.

A nice floor plant could go in a window corner, or a low table or file cabinet, making the space under the window personal and somewhat private.

Do post a photo once you settle on your arrangement. I'm curious about how you nest in your office space.

@Dawn @bjywamer @bob65 @kali66 @danette @aecasey Thank you very much for all the suggestions! I think I will end up trying all of them for a while to see - I did not realize how tricky this room was, with an added challenge of a big and ugly heating unit that now is hiding right behind the desk and making it more difficult to use the space. That huge window - while great - does have too much light in the first part of the day, and even then, I am finding out, staring at the screen with the bright window in the background is getting hard on the eyes. Lots to think and to consider!!! Thanks!
