An amazing sight to see were the monasteries and nunneries in Kalambaka. We did a lot of hiking and climbing to see them all. I only went inside one of them, my husband waited outside. There is a strict dress code, no shorts on men, women must wear a skirt and no sleeveless tops. I did have on shorts, but was given a wrap around skirt in order to go inside. One of them does not allow women in. They use gondolas to get supplies over to them or baskets to haul things up from below. There is a road that takes you to the top of a mountain behind them, then you cross bridges or climb stairs to get up to them.
