Pine Trees by vignouse

Pine Trees

Every time I go walking in the forest, which is often, I always take one or, more likely, several tree shots. Mostly I'm not happy with them and they end up on the cutting-room floor, metaphorically speaking. Happily, for reasons I can't fully explain, I've at last taken a tree picture that I do like - I hope you do too!

Views nicely on black!
I do indeed - the different "shades of Grey" work beautifully and I love the vertical straights and tilts

It is interesting with forest and trees. In real world they look great but not often on photo. Those are looking good.

I like what you did with this.

I do know what you mean, I have the same problem. I think it is difficult lighting. This is very good though, and works well in Bw with the enhanced structure. Fav

I think it's the space that allows you eye to wander through don't you Richard. Great lighting. Wonderful composition. Works well in B&W. Fav!

The b&w really helps one's eye move up and down with this nicely textured forest. Lovely. :)

Superb shot. I am not always good at understanding why I like things, but I know I like this a lot.

Great textures in the photo. Also really like the grasses on the floor of the forest. In our forest the floor is cluttered with sticks and limbs so they look very cluttered.

Great on black. The grass and fern undergrowth have an ethereal quality which make this shot a very special one. Well done you!

Wow, fab. The light in the background and the tones give you that deep woods feel.

Wonderful textures in the b/w

nice; I really like the greys and the vast number of related trees.. Having tried so many in the woods myself, I really appreciate this. I often think that for the photographer, you can see the trees for the forest.

I love all the lines, and the B&W shows us the texture of the trunks well - Lucy

What I like about bw pines is the texture in the bark really pops. Lovely shot.

Beautiful in b&w - are those gorgeous textures and lines

Fabulous! Not only are the tones great, but I take interest in the position of trees on the left side. Their crooked stance is clearly not distortion, and so leaves me the viewer with questions. Which I like...

Another shot that you've made more interesting as a B&W shot, simple and yet wonderful.
