An Afternoon Stroll by vignouse

An Afternoon Stroll

These two ladies were walking just in front of me as I was taking Mitzi for her daily walk round the lake. I was waiting for HCB's 'decisive moment' before pressing the shutter button when suddenly they slowed and half faced each other at a particularly animated point in their discussion... here's the result.
Decisive moment indeed, Richard. Nostalgic reminder of the good old days of plate cameras when we knew that one shot was all we would get on many an important assignment! FAV!

PS> And a charming picture, too!

Clever you to wait. I like the composition and colours. Nice of her to have worn a red coat for you.

Hope they didn't think you were stalking!

Love the red pop, accentuating the mellow shades of Autumn. Fav

How lovely

This is a gorgeous scene. This looks like a wonderful place to walk. Here if you want to go walking it's usually on concrete not so easy on the feet. I prefer the places that have boardwalks a lot easier to walk on. Fav

Fantastic timing. Nice moment captured well.

I like this; so elegant for the woodsy location. Did yo uhave a premonition that a moment woujld arrive?
November 24th, 2014
You;ve defiantly caught the moment.
November 24th, 2014
I wondered what this would look like in monotone?

Great candid. You captured a great moment

The red coat pops out beautifully to give an already stunning scene just that bit extra!

Very cool - great timing.

I have a couple like this from my park. Love when they wear red. You still have color - how lovely.

@trinda Well I sat on this for a couple of days Trinda because I couldn't decide which one to go with. I liked the B&W but it was a little 'busy' with all those leaves which, in monochrome, are rendered almost in the same tone: in the end it was that red coat that made me choose the colour version. (I don't much like SC so that wasn't an option - especially as I wouldn't have wanted any comparisons with Schindler's list!)

The trees have framed this setting so nicely, but that would be thanks to the way you chose to compose the image.

Lovely image, you were especially lucky to find a red coat in the distance! Beautiful light.

Great timing with this shot, you have certainly captured the moment. Katharine

Super shot, what great timing or should I say patience on your part to wait for a moment on interest. A great pop of color from her coat, and I enjoyed reading your comments on not going monochrome on this, I have a tendency to lean towards b&w, but I am slowly realizing it is not the way to go with every shot.

our family cat was called Mitzi

What a wonderful landscape to take a stroll. I have to drive about two hours to get anywhere near anyplace that looks like this.

Nicely executed!

Wonderful timing! This tells such a great story. Lovely composition too!
November 24th, 2014
I really love this... a lot of meaning in just the way they are standing!
November 24th, 2014
Beautifully composed, wonderful depth, perfect light and perfect moment - it's all come together here Richard. It would be great landscape shot without those two, but they make it into something special. Fabulous and a fav of faves!
