Le Château de Brocéliande à Paimpont - winter view
I posted a picture ot this château 19 January this year towards the end of my third week on 365. It was a gloriously sunny day and the lake was clear and mirror-like.
Conditions were very different today at the end of a grey wintry afternoon but the château still looked lovely albeit that a B&W rendition seemed more appropriate to the tone of the day.
Just so beautiful! The differing shades of grey in the trees and the chateau standing to one side plus the contrasting blacks and silver in the water! fav
This is really a beautiful b&w image, Richard. The layers of foreground, lake, estate, and sky work really well together given their different textures, as does the smooth glass-like surface of the lake.
@frankhymus I know you like to lift the hood so I can tell you that the 'heavy lifting' was done in Siver Efex Pro 2; it was fine tuned in LR and finally. I applied a light gaussian blur layer in PS CC because I judged the foliage, especially the trees, to be just a little too sharp after my tweaking. I quite like the final result!
This is a stunning image anyway, but in black and white it really pops. love this that sky reminds me of fresh cream swirling inside hot coffee,, absolutely stunning x fav
@vignouse Yep. I like it a lot too. The old thin wash of Gaussian Blur, Scott Kelby's famous cure-all, is a neat remedy for many such problems. Especially as you sharpen smaller images.
I had to go look up the picture. Because I remember falling in love with these places. It is such a beautiful shot. And evidently I was complaining about being tired. So what else is new. The other thing I noted was the lack of snow in the January one and see you don't have any so far here or is that a light dusting. I am thinking it looks more like a frosting but in bw it's hard to tell. I love your fall back places to photograph. So elegant.
