On the kitchen counter this morning... by vignouse

On the kitchen counter this morning...

...Mrs S went shopping before Mass. This is another image in my series of "Everyday things pictured in an unordinary way."
Last Sunday supper before Christmas...simple and satisfying.

It looks yummy to me and nothing unordinary for our household!! I would eat some warm bread and a banana, my husband would eat a banana sandwich!! Looks wonderful and love it in B/W!! FAV!

this is beautiful Richard - I love the focus and the b&w enhances the composition and textures

I love crusty breads oh yum. Now some sweet butter and life is good.

Neat still life, composition, light, textures

Made for a great still life Richard. Nice crisp B&W, as always.

I love this arrangement in black and white.

Even the bananas look good in B&W - not much brown on them!

The still life works well, and while I usually avoid vignetting, it's quite effective here.

Great rustic feel to this still life. Great textures!

Beautiful.

good still life with a vintage look and feel
As your get-pushed partner this week, I would like you to do a diptych with one being low-key and the other high-key

Great still life and processing

This works well in bw

@hjbenson Hi Harry - a vintage look and feel is what I was aiming for, so thanks. OK for the high-key/low-key dyptych, I will do my best but as I have the whole family arriving tomorrow for Christmas, I shall only have limited time to devote to this.

@taffy Hi Taffy - I was very hesitant about using a high-key vignette but I felt that this image needed 'closing in' and a dark vignette definitely didn't work... in the end, I was quite pleased with the way this turned out. Looks like you're having a fabulous time in Chile...

Love the processing and tones - you are the Master of b&w processing.

Lucky you shopping for food in France. I hope you have a full and happy home for Christmas with lots of gorgeous food! I like this vintage but appetising banana sandwich in the making.

@lleo Thank you Gwenllian - as it happens, for the first time in 25 years, my son and daughter with their respective spouses and my grand-daughters are all coming for Christmas... something we're really excited about as you can imagine.

very neatly done...

Nice still life, and the b&w enhances the range of textures in the shot.

Ah, bread and bananas - a nice choice Mrs S. And Mr S, I think your high key vignette adds a homely, inviting edge to what could otherwise turn into a
clinical exercise. Love it. Fav.

something hyper-real about this; as though the fruite and bread were lifting right off the counter

I love the simplicity of your composition Richard. It gives the shot a very 'real' feel. The bread looks tasty!
