...these appear. They are twice the size of snowdrops, both the size of the plant and the size of the blossoms and the flowers only come after the snowdrops have died down. Their petals have the same little green stain at the end but there are six of them rather than three and they are delicately translucent. I'm sure that somebody on here will be able to tell me what they are but in the meantime, Mrs S and I are just happy to enjoy their beauty.
Update: Thanks to @beewatcher I now know that these are 'leucojum vernum' - more commonly known as Spring Snowflake... isn't that lovely.
You I was thinking today about the flowers that first appear when the harsh winter disappears. And it isn't big blooms, it tiny things like snow drops, crocus and these little things that push there way up through the earth and offer us the hope that nicer weather is coming. So I can see why you would be happy with these delicate beauties.
The petals are soft but detailed at the same time. How did you achieve that slight blur that is like a small visual echo? A wonderful photo. As always!
Very sharp. Your focal length is 105mm - is that the Nikon 105 macro lens ? And if so, would you recommend it, I wonder? The image certainly suggests you should...
It's the Sigma 105 macro ehich I use on both FF and APS-C Nikons - this is a 1/4 frame crop on an APS-C sensor! Yes, I would recommend it wholeheartedly - it's as good as the Nikon at a fraction of the price.
