I hesitated a while before posting yesterday's picture of cows grazing, because I couldn't decide whether to post the colour or the monochrome version. In the end I went with colour so today you get black and white cows in B&W! I liked the independence of spirit of the one in front!
I guess a cow can only exercise independence in a few ways... like picking the direction of their grazing. :) There are really lovely details in this shot, by the way. An excellent b&w, in terms of tones and details.
Great shot, there is alway's one that has to go the other way.. @fntngrma These cow's are in good nik.. you want them putting energy into production not getting fat..
It's hard to tell where cows are looking, but I think that one in the front is looking at you, almost daring you to interrupt her meal (or choice of direction)
I like the composition, picking out the herd-defying cow. I'd be interested to know a bit more about your processing. Black and white works well but you've done something fancy too? I don't know what it is and tbh, I'm not sure what it adds. Well done on another PP and TP!
@jasperc Thank you Jasper - I appreciate your frank comments. I did some 'high-structure' processing with this which consists mainly of compressing and boosting the mid-range tones. I'm sometimes guilty of overprocessing and this may be one of those times, but I wanted the image to 'pop' - I also removed all or part of seven other cows!
@vignouse Thanks for sharing that info. I will have to look into this technique... there are infinite possibilities when it comes to processing which is one of the reasons we have such a good hobby!
