This is one of the exhibition spaces for the 12th annual photo exhibition at La Gacilly, Brittany, for which the theme this year is Feed the Planet. In this space there is a stunning array of images showing the family nature of food production in Brittany... but this lady was more interested in engaging with her 'phone than engaging with the problems of the planet - or with art.
Perhaps you are a little to quick to convict. It could be any number of thugs that called her attention to the phone, maybe she works for the exhibit and some detail has not been taken care of. She has an arty look to her and her concentration is fierce. Perhaps her companion is late joining her but I'd rather believe it is business that has her typing so. Any way love, love love this composition and the sense of loneliness it implies. Fantastic and a fav!
Excellent capture. So many museums have apps and additional information on line. It does make us look distracted, when we may be even quite engaged with the art.
I'm going with Janice, perhaps she is sharing her amazing experience of the art with her friends?
Anyhoo, a great image Richard as it is bringing forth lots of opinions, but I was thinking what a stark place to exhibit these pictures?
Maybe she is hoping to be included in next year's show and is posing..or texting the cop's reporting a strange man looking in through the sky light taking pics..Great shot buddy you have us all guessing.....
Absolutely gorgeous photo - I love all the tones and textures - the solitary woman in the midst of it all. The ubiquitous iPhone - does anyone ever just look at anything anymore without recording it? FAV
@jocasta Have you ever been caught out without your camera in the midst of something amazing? It is quite a helpless feeling until you realize you better just enjoy it while it is happening, sans camera.
Wonderfully composed photo with a subject that can be interpreted in many ways depending on viewer bias. I tend to think she has received a text from a younger relative that she hasn't heard from in a while, and is trying to figure out how to text back! :) I was surprised how many people were not distracted by their phones at Disney.
Well seen and photographed, Richard. People always were so preoccupied with the immediate that they didn't see what was happening around them… modern technology simply makes it abundantly clear! Fav for drawing our attention to it with such clarity.
I have come to the realization that more than likely you will always find someone on their phone and to be honest I would probably be one of them, that said what really draws me to this shot is the industrial feel to the space, the saturated blues against the gritty concrete...nicely done!
So much to admire about this shot... the space, lines and textures of the display space, the linear arrangement of the art on the wall and the story (stories?) that the image evokes. Really nice job.

A great day out with many thought provoking and shocking photos illustrating the food plight that our consumerism and greed have spawned.
