Coming back from an abortive outing to find a photo for today, I took a detour along a cart-track and stopped the car to look at a herd of cows quietly grazing. Suddenly, to my delight, this one suddenly started scratching behind her ear with her back leg... our dog and our cat do that, but a cow? I don't think I've ever picked up and turned on a camera nor focussed and framed a shot so fast in my life!
Wow, I have never seen a cow do that!! That's almost a yoga pose, and yes, our cats and dogs are excellent at it, but I have never thought of a cow as being that nimble!! Wonderful capture!!
@maggiemae Damn! Seven legs actually Maggiemae... and two tails - but her second head is missing! I had to get rid of another cow behind her and I accidentally posted an intermediate image instead of the finished one - she's now back to the right complement of everything... thank-goodness you spotted my error.
@dawnbez Is this common behaviour Dawn - none of our locals, who are well used to seeing cows, can recall a cow doing this? Hope you don't get too many bruises!
@vignouse i wouldn't say this is common no, they're more likely to rub their head on things to scratch an itch! But cows are renowned for being able to kick forwards as far as their head, sideways and backwards (unlike a horse which tends to only kick backwards)!

Hope all OK with the family. We have missed you.
I would not have believed a cow could do that - there you go
