NF-SOOC-2015 - Day 6: To Autumn... by vignouse

NF-SOOC-2015 - Day 6: To Autumn...

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core...

John Keats 19 September 1819

This is my sixth image for NF-SOOC-2015 - you can read about it here - http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/26200/back-to-basics-nf-sooc-2015

Oh, I could reach out for that apple. What varieties do you grow. Oh I probably shouldn't ask as they would be different from out New England Varieties.

Definitely a sign of fall! Apples ripening on the trees.

Beautiful image and lyric poetry. It has the feel of a Lensbaby shot, even though I believe that you are sticking with the 50mm this month for your challenge. Maybe its the shallow DOF that helps with this effect, which is soft and dreamy.

Had to fav...I took apple tree shots and not one was worth posting -- I wanted it to look like yours did!
September 7th, 2015
Loving all of that ... Keats was a perfect addition!
September 7th, 2015
Fav for photo...and Keats.
September 7th, 2015
Beautiful, gentle focus.

@taffy Thanks Taffy - in a processing world I would have got rid of the out of focus debris in the spider's web and the vestiges of the web which have caught the light... but these are the things that mostly only photographers notice, so I'm sure that your shots are not as bad as you think they are!
September 7th, 2015
@rosiekerr Thanks Rosie - the 'soft and dreamy' effect comes from having a f/1.4 lens wide-open - or almost wide-open (f/1.6) here - on a full-frame camera... the DoF is virtually nil at close focussing distances. I did do a couple of LB shots for last year's challenge and I intend to do the same again this year with my LB 50mm double-glass optic.

Who needs post processing when you can shoot like that and adorn the result with some Keats?
September 7th, 2015
I agree with with Jasper!! What a fitting and lovely capture to begin fall!! Beautiful bokeh too :) FAV

@janewinfrey Well thanks very much Jane, but your Fav isn't showing - could you please tap the * again as I wouldn't want to lose your kind gesture.
