NF-SOOC-2015 Day 19: Wait... Wait... NOW! by vignouse

NF-SOOC-2015 Day 19: Wait... Wait... NOW!

This is to encourage all of you to take part in the Street 10 challenge - see here: http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/26315/street-challenge-10-begins This interesting character was sat opposite me in one of Dieulefit's bars - I had to wait a while before he made eye-contact!

This is a backlit shot with one stop of exposure correction - views nicely on black...

This is also my nineteenth image for NF-SOOC-2015 - you can read about it here - http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/26200/back-to-basics-nf-sooc-2015

Interesting looking guy and great capture with the eye contact

Wonderful street portrait! As much as I admire street photography, there's just too little opportunity for me to try it. I'll just have to view the challenge entries and admire!
September 19th, 2015
Nice street candid.
September 19th, 2015
I bet he's a biker! They all seem to look like this - and a lot of them smoke! Super shot - hope he was not worried!

real character captured here

Tom
Love it, Great character capture Richard
September 19th, 2015
Great portrait - it's unusual now to see people smoking in public here now - but what a lot of interest the cigarette adds to this shot. Did you explain why you were taking his portrait or just run away?
September 19th, 2015
good street candid
September 19th, 2015
Excellent portrait - I'm terrified of street photography though so it probably won't happen

@maggiemae @snaphappi Maggiemae/Maggie - thanks for your comments. Well I'm a biker and I don't look like that... nor do I smoke - well not anymore ;-) His name is Alain; he's never had a motorbike; he used to be a photographer although not any more; he's currently a struggling author... and he's not half as fierce as he looks!
September 19th, 2015
He does not look thrilled beyond measure. Very nice lighting and capture of his expression.
September 19th, 2015
incredible portrait. really looks through a person.
September 19th, 2015
Superb portrait shot...he has a lot of character in his face and clothes
September 20th, 2015
Well, after reading your "bio" about Alain it just proves the old adage that we should not judge a book by its cover. Super character shot.
September 20th, 2015
Amazing shot! FAV
September 20th, 2015
Wonderful portrait!Love the eye contact and how the smoke softens the texture of his beard.I read no surprise in his eyes, just straight eye contact, love this.Fav!
September 20th, 2015
Amazing catch! I'm impressed you thought about exposure compensation. Fav
September 20th, 2015
Great shot, love that he is looking into the camera but does not seem to be concerned.
September 20th, 2015
Great image. I wonder what he is thinking!
September 20th, 2015

September 20th, 2015
Interesting portrait. Good capture
September 20th, 2015
@vignouse thanks for your explain, it is interesting, i would like to be brave and take "these" photos with people on the street :) good work, very nice portrait and capture!
September 20th, 2015
A great candid and I wish I was brave enough to so this. I have managed one or two in the past but never if they were looking at me!
September 20th, 2015
Wonderful.

Lee
I can see him thinking, "what the hell". Nicely controlled background.
September 20th, 2015
An interesting street shot. For me he's a mutation of Rasputin and Peter Ustinov.
September 20th, 2015
I love the look on his face.
September 20th, 2015
Super candid.
September 21st, 2015
I just enjoy, very much, how he is looking right at you. What a great expression. Tough lighting conditions, too.
