I've mentioned before the photo exhibition on 'The Adventure of Birth' which is currently on display at our local Mediatech and which I'm proud to have participated in. This afternoon, a local dance group performed a choreography inspired by the exhibition. The dancing began in the gardens outside; moved through the car-park; mounted the stairs to the the Mediatech; continued in the corridor in front of the photographs and then spread through the library, mingling with library visitors. I was particularly moved by this dancer's sensitive portrayal of a foetus readying itself for birth.
@joansmor Bless and thank you! I have two very different interpretations of this scene and it was sooo difficult to choose between them... I hope I made the right decision.
Potent, beautiful, stunning. Wish I'd been already there and could have seen it. Will the exhibit still be hanging early June? I used to be a Nurse Midwife so it's up my alley
Thank you Jane... sadly, it's due to come down at the end of May. It will be rehung in October as a permanent exhibition at the maternity hospital where the images were taken.
l spent quite a while gazing at this shot. It is arresting in its own right, but I have not ever been confronted by the thought of a foetus going through birth. The world is overflowing with experiences of the mother, so it must have taken a great leap of courage and imagination for an actor or dancer to express the point of view of the child. Fav
@ethelperry thank you for your thoughts Ethel - it is true, all focus is on the mother until the child enters the world.
This is a most beautiful image Richard - so well photographed
