Lee @gamelee suggested in my 3 November post Treetops that 'Looking Up' would make a good theme for the month. Yesterdays' image was looking up on top of the medicine cabinet - today's is from the forest again.
I have photographed this snapped off tree trunk dozens of times but have never liked the resulting images enough to post one... I'm happier with today's so enjoy with me the remains of this mature pine tree which was decapitated in a storm a couple of years ago. I like the way that the background trees lean in, as if they are mourning the loss of one of their own.
I like it best on black - but it's a close call...
I like this POV, the stumps detail and textures - I suspect - stand out cleaner set against the sky as apposed to having a full backdrop of forest. Note to oneself, Think outside the box and try alternative viewpoints.
thanks for asking - I have 6 regular colony members here, 2 other colony members I don't see so often and another 2 that have been here quite a lot the past few months, not sure if they will be assimilated into the colony or not. Then during this year so far there have been another 10 that have travelled through and stopped in for some days or weeks.
I am regenerating native habitat, all the koalas are wild and come and go as they please. I go out every day photographing as I collect data on them all :)
Interesting comment Richard (good photo to of course) I'm reminded of the Crakers - a product of Margaret Atwood's deliciously inventive, mischievous mind. They would surround the sick and 'purr' over them. So that's what this pic immediately brought to mind ... then I read your comment. Spooky ... or just great minds?
