This is the last flower stem on the last of this winter's amaryllis plants which have given Mrs S and me so much pleasure and for such a small investment. Just give them a sip of water every few days and they respond in dramatic fashion. This one is on the kitchen windowsill and the sky which had been grey all day obliged me with 5 minutes of blue.
almost a poster. Makes me nostalgic for my amaryllises -- I had three that I loved for years but they perished one hot summer - -I did something wrong, but can't quite remember what now
Hello, I enjoyed reading your encouragement for Joan when I followed her several years ago during my first project. You were a superb mentor for her then; how pleasant to see someone so knowledgeable taking the time to give back to others like you did for her. I feel as if I learned a lot just reading your bio tonight! As for myself, I belive there are as many kinds of photographers as there are people taking pictures, and I'm so grateful for all of the amazing diversity on this site! But take that for what it's worth, as I'm slowly getting revved-up to practice some more with my newer Cannon T3si. I can't wait to learn from following your project...
I think this striped one is one of my favourites - we call them Hippeastrum here in Australia, and hippies for short - I have a few different hippies here. I really like the processing on this capture :) fav
Beautifully photographed... it's lovely. Fav! After many years giving a good show ours - also on the kitchen windowsill - has taken a break this year...oh! it's not there! :-?
