Enjoy them while you can. I passed through what once must have been a similar scene, near Millas on Saturday morning, and they had all been cut down and were ready for burning. The fungus that is killing them is speading north. They can be replaced by resistant American varitied but it will be a few years before their trunks are 1m in diameter.
Wonderful high contrast of the light and shadow, tall trees and path leading deep into the photo as the opening narrows and a distant small lone figure.

Hope the trees resist the fungus - some are strong enough to do that. Or - maybe the biologists will find a cure before it gets to you.
