Paimpont 2018: Day 199 - Fallen

Mrs S and I took Mitzi for a walk at the end of the afternoon and came back with pockets stuffed with chestnuts from a tree at the side of the road.

Better on black...

Oh yummo, love freshly picked/fallen chestnuts. Love the shot too.

Agree with Joan, it does have a touch of foundling about it. VML how the spiky shell illustrates its protective qualities.

Super silvered shot. Roasted chestnuts for supper?

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Well you should have gathered some... they are chestnuts and very edible: boiled, chopped in a stuffing, served to accompany sprouts. Most people though eat them roasted, preferably over an open fire or barbecue - personally I eat them raw after having first scraped off the bitter outer skin.

My dad always roasted chestnuts at Christmas. Never had them raw though.
