Chania is the ancient capital of Crete. 20+ years ago, we spent a week in Crete and in one of the street cafés, Zita's Place, so named because we made the acquaintance of a tabby cat that R christened Zita. Like many others, she frequented the local restaurants, searching food and affection. She was charming, delicate and eager to be fed. We, particularly R who is a sucker for cats, obliged by proffering tasty morsels from his plate. Needless to say, instant rapport between R and Zita. So when a tabby arrived at Vignouse seeking asylum, we called her Chania. She's been with us about 10 years...and we/vet think she's 14/15. Chania is the senior animal at Vignouse...and keeps Mitzi in check!
