My church related responsibilities began before 8am and finished at 11pm. Not much time for photo opportunities so here is a view of the Celtic harp concert in the Abbey this evening. I often post close-ups of the artistes but, for a change, I thought I would show you what the audience sees at our concerts.
The Abbey's acoustic lends itself to musicians. I've never really been a harp fan...have endured too many dirges...yet last night it was a joy and pleasure. Was particularly pleased for Vero's (friend, dog lover and pianist) sake as she is a pianist with ability, playing regularly for her own pleasure...and thus understands well the 'exposure' of performing beyond trusted friends. The pews are oak and whilst they are of 'a certain age' they're hardly designed for 5* comfort. I took cushions which reduced the oaks' ardour ;-)
@golftragic It stopped being an active Abbey at the French Revolution in 1791 and has been the parish church since then so strictly speaking it should be described as the Abbatial of Paimpont - the Abbey Church.
@maggiemae
Yes, they did sing too!
The acoustics in the Abbey are excellent so most performers sound at their best there. The artist here is Myrdhin (Merlin in Breton) and his partner and both play and sing.
