Finishing the job...

This is a follow on from yesterday's post - in fact not all the wheat was harvested last night as there was a problem with the combine harvester that was fixed this morning and the rest of the wheat was gathered in this afternoon. This image was taken from our back-garden - I had a ringside seat.
Great shot

This machine would be a lot of money to buy! But does a good job in a short time!

I like how you were able to get the width of the harvester. It's huge.

VML that the wheat and the combine harvester are close shades of the same colour ;-)

Crisp image of a cutting scene.

@randystreat When it travels on the road, all the feeding and cutting machinery is removed and towed behind on a trailer... and it still takes up an awful lot of room!

@maggiemae Something seriously north of $300,000 for a new one which few farmers in Europe could justify. The expensive material that only sees occasional use is usually owned and operated by an agricultural cooperative and farmers pay by the hour for its services.

@taffy On the first pass the combine was just 2 feet from our fence - clouds of dust and very noisy so I waited until it was a bit further away.

The person inside shows the relation of size, it is huge.

A monstrous scythe!

Great pov, interesting to see how this is done in France. Looks like a very heavy yield in that crop. I guess the big machinery used here is too big for the size of the paddocks.
