NF-SOOC Day 22: Exit... by vignouse

NF-SOOC Day 22: Exit...

General Vauban was a famous French military architect in the 17C and the strategic points of the French coast were all protected by the forts that he designed. This one is at Blaye on the River Gironde and this is an interior view of one of the three exits.

This is for my annual NF-SOOC September challenge - you can read all about it here: https://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/42451/nf-sooc-september-2019

Perfectly exposed, excellent composition and a story to boot. What else could we want? Maybe some idea of what lay beyond our escape route? Fav

@lostphojo Today, an elevated stone walkway... yesteryear a drawbridge over the moat. Try Googling Vauban Citadel Blaye.
