More accurately, the Abbatiale - Abbey Church - as the last monks left as a consequence of the French Revolution in 1789. The imposing wing you can see in the centre of the image was originally the monks' quarters and the support functions; today the ground floor is the Mairie (Town Hall) and the upper floor is the Bibliothèque (Library) - the attic is used for storage and archiving.
