It was getting dark this evening as I left Paimpont Abbey having spent much of the afternoon taking photographs for next year's Visitor's Guide. I thought the main street - Rue de General de Gaulle - looked rather welcoming. No Christmas decorations yet... that's for next week.
Looks like a very welcoming town! Interesting that part of the street is full of dining tables! I hope you return in the days ahead to capture the town adorn in Christmas lights!
@skipt07@essiesue Thank you Sue and Skip... well Bar Brécilien can certainly provide you with a light snack but the outside tables are for those who like to watch the world go by and/or have the world watch them... but mainly, they're for the smokers! That said, the temperature this afternoon was a highly unseasonable 18 C... it won't last.
Very attractive Street, and you were basking in 18 degree heat in December.. Lucky you. I also love the restraint that the French show with regards to Christmas lights. It will be all the more special for waiting until the 8th.
For me, a photo such as this is what Paimpont is all about. Small village much loved by its residents, a community of caring people who recognise how fortunate they are to live in such beautiful and dramatic countryside. Whilst facilities and infrastructure are a far cry from large towns and cities; medical services, supermarket, pharmacies, bars and restaurants can be found at Plelan le Grand by making a 10 drive through Paimpont Forest...a balm for the soul.
@frankhymus Thanks Frank - this was one of the first pics with my birthday present, the Fuji X100T. I have read so much about how good it is for street photography that I wanted to try one for myself... seems that the reviews might be right.
@vignouse Glad the camera suits you. A bit too expensive with not enough "oomph" for me I am afraid. But I have only played with it for 20 minutes or so in and around the local camera store.
