When life is hectic and the ground seems to move under your feet all the time it's good to have some points of anchorage to cling on to. No matter what is happening on any given day, Mitzi provides that essential grounding for us. After lunch, she whines to be let out into the garden: once there, she barks at every square inch and then comes in, somewhat bedraggled, to crash out on 'her' sofa for the rest of the afternoon. All's well with the world then...
You are right, pets, especially dogs are such creatures of habit and give our lives a structure we might not otherwise have. She looks delightfully zonked out! Lovely shot.
@jack4john She doesn't have her own couch pers se, although she uses it extensively. Reposing on its back (equally bedecked with dog proof covers) provides an unequalled vantage point, from where she can see who might be at the front door and take the opportunity to combine duty and pleasure with extensive and sustained barking practice.
@jack4john On cue, as I sent the previous post, we had a scale or two of barking! Mitzi and me share the sofa. When I'm reading or knitting, she's there, protecting, getting stroked, talked to....etc. It sure is a dog's life!
Joe sometimes complains about the useless dog. But I believe Lucy provides us with quite a bit more than we provide her. In addition to grounded consistency, she provides a bottomless reservoir of enthusiasm.
Mitzi, is one smart dog she train you well and know the good life, If I have to come back to earth I will defiantly return as a Mitzi!!!! Great photo also.
