At any given time, I usually have several ideas for new images in my head and sometimes I take test shots to try out an idea that I might use in the future. This shot of exposed tree roots on the bank of Paimpont Lake is a good example where I was experimenting with blending modes in PS to combine a colour and B&W version of the same image. Whether you will see it's like again, I don't know... but it has possibilities I think!
Blend modes are powerful. And combining them with masks so you only apply the mode to certain areas even better. I look at this and think ouch as I have stubbed my toe too many times on roots.
There is something about very very subtle color that I find very appealing. Discovered that during a month when I was playing with the oft-maligned selective color. I liked leaving a hint of color in the desaturated sections of the picture.
