OCOLOY Day 106: Canal St. Martin, Rennes. by vignouse

OCOLOY Day 106: Canal St. Martin, Rennes.

Lunch with a dear friend in Rennes today and afterwards, a postprandial stroll along the banks of the canal.

As usual the image is SOOC and is part of my ongoing OCOLOY project - you can read more about it in my profile.

Best viewed on black if you can.

I like the gritty look to this with all the graffiti. What better for B&W.

I was just talking about storytelling with Dominico, your picture confirms that all good pictures are filled with untold stories.

I''m glad you after lunch was a stroll rather than a run! You would be interested in the photography side of this canal!

Great tones and textures...graffiti, water, barriers and 3 X MS (Mitzi Sayer, Marie-Suzanne & Mrs S).

Stunning image, Sir, in its depth. Really feels like a moment in time. Inclusion of ceiling adds so much and your talent sooc is inspiring. Thank you for that!

Love the light reflecting off the water, the contrasts of the graffiti, than the silhouettes of the walkers, magnificent shot, absolutely perfect, fav!

Nicely done, like the grungy feel!

Wonderful, grungy composition. I really like the crispness of the contrast here.

Fav - really like the gritty feel of this

What a wonderful view and framing of the two people. But the b&w also portrays the dampness that goes along with these underground walkways.

All that graffiti, even in France? Normally, as you know, I'd not like the blown highlights, but they work excellently here, accenting the subjects nicely. Fav.

Amazing light in this fantastically composed street shot! Fav of course.

A good shot for the start of my 'learn to love B&W' attempt. I guess the colours of the graffitti would be distracting. A very atmospheric shot, especially with the androgynous dog-walker.

Great catch! Light, silhouettes and reflections are perfectly balanced, as the composition. I hate graffiti, but this photo is a fav, for sure!

Thanks Tim for the follow and your comments. Both the silhouettes are women - our friend Marie-Suzanne on the left and the 'androgynous dog-walker' on the right is Mrs S!
