One of my hopes for this year is that the self-imposed rigour and discipline of my project would help me to develop a style, a 'tone of voice' for my photography that relies on vision and composition for its effect rather than dramatic processing. I find that I am becoming comfortable with simple 'classic' compositions in contrasty B&W. Today's image is an example: I have another which was carefully exposed to have a full range of tones with un-clipped highlights and un-blocked shadows, but I liked the dark drama of this one best.
As always, this image is SOOC and is part of my ongoing OCOLOY project - you can read more about it in my profile.
I applaud you for your determination and can see that you have indeed created a consistent style of quality B&W images over the last few months. As a seriously heavy handed processor of pictures I should and will take a leaf out of your book I award you the only accolade I can..a fav..
The placid water is calming in this shot...neat light. I lean towards no or a less is more approach to processing. Your project is a great lesson in natural beauty.
Such a perfect capture. Quiet, sure, but the dark tones and the clouds above bring a little sense of discomfort... As always a very special way of seeing, Richard!
This is superb and a huge FAV
