OCOLOY Day 360: On the Christmas table... by vignouse

OCOLOY Day 360: On the Christmas table...

Mrs S likes candles - this is about a quarter of those that lit our Christmas table this lunchtime...

...and may the Christmas child light your life this day.

As usual, the image is SOOC and is part of my ongoing OCOLOY project - you can read more about it in my profile.

This one will view better on black...
Super shot, excellent and protracted lunch, all aspects catered for by R. Sans pareil/peerless!

Candle lights sets a special mood any time they're lit. This is pretty in B&W. Merry Christmas Day to you and Mrs. S. And Mitzi too!

Beautifully done. And a discreet candid of Mrs S too into the bargain!

SOOC with candle light is something similar to a double backward flip on the rope without net...

Forgot to say: perfectly executed!

Excellent as always

Really good in b&w. Inspires me to try the b&w setting on my camera instead of converting afterwards.

@quietpurplehaze Thank you Hazel - I've grown quite addicted to SOOC B&W over the last year. There are two big advantages when you are using a 'mirrorless' camera like your A6000 or RX100 - you see the scene in B&W which helps enormously with the composition, plus it's WYSIWYG; you see in the viewfinder the effects of changing the camera settings and you can keep on adjusting until it looks right... then all you have to do is press the button!

@vignouse

Richard, thank you for tips. I am definitely going to try the bw option in both these cameras (both of which I love). I joined in your SOOC challenge & found it very useful. I'd always rather 'get it right' when I take a shot (if possible!)than post-process. I think both my cameras have more than one bw option.

The detail and the light are as if you have them on a palette. I love your art

beautiful light Richard - and I love the gentle hint of behind
December 26th, 2016
beautiful! i love the crispness of the contrast here... will you be continuing ocoloy into 2017?
December 26th, 2016
@northy Thank you Myra - no, I will not be continuing with Ocoloy because I have 11 other cameras that have been gathering dust for the last year and I miss playing with them... I have something else in mind so watch this space!

Beautifully captured, so easy to overexpose the flames, but you've got them just right here.
