I haven't had much time today to think about or take today's photo. I had a workout, and when I was done I thought that it would be good to do a self-portrait as I've hardly done any photos of people. However, I didn't want to do a regular self-portrait.
I'm quite pleased with my attempt. I took the self-portrait by holding the camera aloft and looking down slightly. As I pressed the shutter, I moved my head down further to get the slightly blurry effect, as I used a slow shutter speed. I increased the contrast, and made the blacks darker and the whites lighter in Adobe Lightroom. By the way, it's the blur that makes my nose and chin look big! But then it's not about vanity, is it?!
I've become a big fan of black and white photography recently. When it's done properly, it can work really well. Using my free beta version of Adobe Lightroom 3 to convert my photos has been a joy to use, so it's a shame that Adobe have just announced that they're releasing the full version of the software. This means that my beta version will soon expire, and I'll just have to rely on Photoshop Elements. I may have to make an expensive purchase in the near future.
Semi-professional photographer based in Nottingham, England, I shoot mainly events and weddings. I'll be posting my work using my Fujis - X100S and X-Pro1.
