I unexpectedly gatecrashed a wedding today! Well, I kinda did. A colleague from work was getting married at a local church, so Louise - another colleague - asked if I wanted to see the bride and groom on our lunch break. I thought "why not" and first saw the bride enter the church, and then later saw both the bride and groom when the service was complete.
Unfortunately I wasn't close enough for a few decent photos of the newly-weds. We were in our casual clothing and everybody else was so smart, so we stood well back as we didn't want to stand out too much! I took the opportunity though to take a few snaps of the building itself.
This is St Peter's Church in Ruddington, Nottingham. I took this photo a few times and this was my first attempt. The latter shots were with Louise on the pathway, but I didn't compose them quite right and it detracted from the picture somewhat. To quote Ken Rockwell, "if something isn't adding to the composition, it's taking away".
I've decided what lens to purchase next! A couple of things have swayed my decision for me. The second-hand Canon 10-22mm ultra-wide angle lens I was after was sold yesterday, so that isn't an immediately viable option, and today I tried my friend's Canon 75-300mm telephoto lens and was impressed. I'll be purchasing the model up too, the 70-300mm version with Image Stabilisation (IS) that is meant to be a notch better. I can't wait!

this church has some amazing architectural lines. Love the b&w version and without seeing the ones with your friend, I think you were wise by not including as I love this image as is.
