A Triumph's nacelle by vikdaddy

A Triumph's nacelle

I heard some good news today. My cousin in Dubai got a new job, so I'm happy for him. My cousin is like my brother, and I love him to bits. Congratulations Jaspal!

My friend John Wynn (of day 12 and 59 fame) popped round briefly to use the Internet. If I could describe him in two words it'd be 'bohemian' and 'luddite'. John lives in his workshop and has eschewed a multitude of modern technology, so he has to pop round now and then just to use the Internet. Stick John in front of a TV and he's mesmerised, as he doesn't own one! Anyway, as he sat at this very PC I'm now typing at, I took a few photos of the Triumph motorcycle he arrived on.

John's Triumph is so shiny and metal-like, it just entices you to take some shots. Apparently this part of the bike that the handlebars emanate from that also houses the speedometer, keyhole, petrol cap and so on is called the nacelle.

It was funny when my cousin video-called me this evening. John was at my desk and was absolutely flabbergasted that I could talk to him using Skype on my PC. My cousin was doubly surprised to see John staring at him as the video call started! I suppose when you reflect on the advances made with digital technology just in my lifetime, it is pretty amazing.

Interesting photo, very unique.

What an awesome bike! I like the color choices a lot; the dark blue/black foreground and the highly reflective surfaces against a a blue/purple background make for a really easy photo to stare at for a while.

There are soo many interesting things about this photograph. There are shadows, reflections...its shiny and in some spots it's not...the framing is awesome...the dof is great...there are soo many shapes and textures and different surfaces. All in all, great picture :)

This is a great shot, I love the blurred somewhat purple background as well. It sounds like your friend John is pretty awesome! I can imagion it being pretty hillarious when your cousin's face popped up from Sykpe and started talking to him.

what a great story and great photo. I can't imagine not having a computer. Your buddy lives a different life, just makes you sit back and think about the things we take for granted.

mr. wynn sounds like a great subject for a documentary.

i remember your other shots of him, and he just seems to have been caught in some sort of chronological eddy, and i'm envious.
