Riverside Festival fireworks by vikdaddy

Riverside Festival fireworks

What a long day! I went to visit my grandparents in the afternoon with my brother, and then went to a barbecue on a boat at the Victoria Embankment opposite this year's Nottingham Riverside Festival. After, we went to the actual festival and I took some photos. I then set up my tripod by the embankment as the annual festival fireworks show began.

The fireworks display was excellent and I had a good spot; in fact, it was too good a spot as I was too close. It was good to watch but not so good to take photographs, because it's better to be further away so I can capture more. Although I'm happy with what I shot for a first attempt, I have to remember for next time that location is paramount.

When I was shooting I overheard comments from people next to me. They were taking photos with their compacts and mobile phones and were happy with what they captured, but they were sneaking looks at my pictures on my camera and were impressed. I have to be honest, it was nice to hear!

Canon EOS 450D, f/9, 2/1, ISO-100
Wonderful Fireworks. Great shot.

You captured the fireworks beautifully. I have to say that when I took my photos of our 4th of July fireworks, I was quite happy with my point and shoot photos, but a little envious of the photos my daughter took with her canon Rebel. I think she could identify with you.

I'm only just getting around to responding to comments from my project's final photo. Still taking photos of course, but not necessarily every day. Some money-making possibilities are on the horizon w/ my equine photography which is exciting :)
I feel like many of the folks on here, including you, have become like family & so I wanted to say that if you have facebook, I would love for you to add me: http://www.facebook.com/wheeler.laura
like that I can feel like I still have some of this 365 family close by.
Best of luck as you finish the project ... I promise to come back & comment from time to time :)

Gorgeous capture! I was hoping to capture a multiple burst like this, as well, but was too busy calming a doggie to mess with the camera as I'd liked to... I know what you mean about other people catching glimpses at the back of your camera :) Same was happening to me, and you're right, it is nice! And next year will be even better =)

These are great! Tried for the first time a few nights ago, shot them from a distance and found that to be better than I expected. I also had a five second exposure which worked well to capture several in succession. Fun to experiment with but over too soon in most cases!
