I planned on doing a still life shoot today. Of what I wasn't sure, but on the way home I was in awe of a rainbow and threw that idea out of the window. I had to stop to take a proper look so I parked up on a side street, and I happened to be adjacent to a park that I wasn't aware of. I went in and took a few photos with the Canon S90 I keep with me at all times.
I saw this isolated bench and decided to use it as my foreground interest. The few attempts at a standard horizontal angle didn't please me, so I thought I'd try it at this unconventional perspective. I wish I had my ultra-wide angle lens with me though. With it I could have captured the rainbow in one shot and it would have made me get closer to the bench for this photo, which I think would have made for a more interesting picture.
What pleased me today was my speedy thought process. I only stopped for a few minutes, but in that time I took a standard shot of the ends of the rainbow, then I thought I'd take two to stitch together, then I looked for foreground interest, and then when the foreground interest didn't please me I went for the unconventional angle. In the pursuit of a decent photo, I learnt that over the past 99 days my eye for the interesting is getting better and faster.

I love this shot so much!!!! Absolute fav! I love the caption you write as well, I get really excited when I work @ a shot and everything works out in the end. Congrats on your own self realization & growth : )
I love this one Vik (A fav) I am a fan of the wild angles as well, and it works really well here as the rainbow gives some horizontal grounding. The bench in the foreground is great and the lighting on the grass in front of the bench is just super.
Glad to hear your getting quicker at finding your shots too, that is the biggest benifit I have gained from the project in my opinion.
It is so interesting to read your commentary about how you came by this as your shot. Trying the different angles etc. I've always thought your pictures were great anyway, this place has def taught a lot of us, whatever level we're at, a great deal in inspiration and new ways of looking. Thanks for taking the time to put that under your photo......which needless to say is great! :-)
congrats again on such a great shot, vik. deservedly, sure to be one of the week's best.
as for the hdr, i agree, it certainly presents a more dramatic effect when the original scene has more range. but to an etent, that's just aesthetics, and, i suppose, hdr is more about the technique than the look.
keep up the good stuff, man. this project has evexntuated in to quite the muse.
I really like it. (:
