This morning's weather forecast predicted rain in the afternoon. Although the clouds gathered pace and grew in size and intensity, a mild warmth imbued the atmosphere. As the clouds gained character and colour I took a few photos. I expected precipitation, but I don't think a drop fell all day.
I'm surprised I don't take more cloud photos, as I think they can make the most beautiful shapes. In post-processing I increased the contrast and clarity, two things I usually do to my landscape - or in this case, skyscape - shots.
'Pathetic fallacy' is when you ascribe emotions to nature. For example, in literature and film, the weather can often be an indication of the mood of the scene or the feelings of the characters. I was taught this at school and have noticed this often in many forms of narrative since. Have a look out for it next time you watch the TV, go to the cinema or read a book; it's used all the time for dramatic effect.

Interesting, some will see this as a impending storm and others, a sunny day breaking thru. For me, waiting for darkness so I can go home! Nice capture
Great pic! Thanks for the explanation. Here in the states the term 'pathetic' is most often ascribed to something that is weak, helpless and pitiable. We forget that it can refer to anything related to 'pathos' or feelings.
Gorgeous clouds! About weather used in films : that's sooo true. In a suspense/action/horror movie..... if the person (usually a women) is alone, in the house and a thunder storm begins..... something bad's going to happen!
great shot Vik. I love the lighting and the detail of the clouds in the lower right.
To answer your question on my shot, I did not use a macro lens. It was taken at about 50mm with my 17-85mm lens. The veggie is really large. The entire head had a diameter of 25-30cm. I cropped the shot a little to remove a pesky leaf that was curling in, so the actual area of the photo is probably 15x10cm I would estimate.
Flippin heck Vik... I never knew you did an apple/water shot... Think I'd better check your pics first from now on before I give something a go :-)...
Nice pic btw - Can't go wrong with some decent clouds...
Finally, something from school is paying off in real life.
Anyways though- this is a great photograph!
