I'm on a low carb, high protein diet at the moment. On the days I'm not working out I hardly eat any carbohydrate-based food, except for breakfast. Unfortunately this makes me tired in the evenings, and after falling half-asleep on the sofa again I just could not be bothered to take any photos. However I wanted to try a clichéd water-in-wine-glass shoot, so I mustered up the energy for an attempt.
I'm glad I got up to try this shoot because I got some great shots, if I do say so myself! It was difficult selecting my photo for today but I settled on this one because I like the shape of the water in the glass. A few of the others are on my Flickr page ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/vikdaddy/), but I still need to edit loads more. Once I've edited the rest I will add them too.
The set-up was pretty straightforward; a white background, my camera with flash on a tripod and the wine glass half-full. I then poured water in to the glass and snapped away, ensuring the flash was pointed up so the light bounces off my white ceiling and on to the glass. In post-processing I increased the clarity and contrast markedly and converted it to black and white. I then cleaned up the surrounding area, and that was the time-consuming part.
I want to try this again because I really like the results. Next time I'll try it with some dye in the water, so it has a nice tinge. I will also regularly wipe the white background, because removing the drops in post-processing is so time-consuming!

I really love this shot!! This is cliche, whatever, but it's great. And you've done it very well so it's still interesting!
And btw...what workout are you doing? Doesn't happen to be P90X or Insanity is it?
@vikdaddy cool deal! Sounds very similar to the Phase 1 diet in P90X, which I LOVE. You should try that program, you lose and cut at the same time. It works your ass off but it's so worth it.

Vik this is an awesome shot! I wish you the best with your workouts but I am not an advocate of low carb diets. I much prefer just to cut calories overall not just from one specific food group. However I have been an edurance athlete all my life and have a certain affinity for carbs! :) Either way best of luck hitting your fitness goals.
@harvey I see your point, my workouts are based on strength so for me it's about eating carbs when I need them. When you have a sedentary job in an office, you find very little use for carbs and it quickly turns in to fat!
