It was mentioned that I've photographed quite a few people recently. It got me thinking; the reason why is because I've not been well and I haven't been outside much. I really enjoy doing portraiture, but my first love is getting outside and taking photos of interesting places.
I made a point of bringing my camera to work today so I could pop out at some point. There's a village near where I work and at the end of it is this interesting little spot.
This sign immediately caught my attention; I was determined to take a photo of it despite there being a quite tall fence in the way. I had to put my camera on live view and hold it up high, and after a few attempts I got this shot. I should have tried it again with a lower aperture so more of the rail track is in focus, but with the difficulty I had taking it in the first place I simply forgot. I'm quite pleased with it though.
I got some great news that I'm dying to share. Only a select few know, but when I can I will share it with you all because I'm so excited!

Terrific shot! I really like the composition . . . I'm impressed you could do it so nicely over a fence! Can't wait to hear your announcement. I've got a guess, and I'm dying to know if I'm right ;)
Here we have signs that say Beware of Alligators, so I find this sign very amusing. The lines in the sign and in the sky all sort of gave it a cinematic feel - very nice!
This is great Vik. Nice texture on the sign and great editing. I'm not sure what it is. This just has a look that I really like. hmm cant put my finger on it..
Wow, what an awesome photo!!! The lines are stunningly well done, and at the same time it has a sort of dangerous edge that makes you want to look a bit closer..
Great shot! I'm glad to see that you've already answered my question...as to what kind of lens this was shot with. As a fellow 7D user, you've got a new follower :)
Curious about the news too.. though just to point out.. I've been looking at the "miniture affect" or "tilt shift" and still confused about it.. this photo looks rather kinda in that prespective.. great shot.. I rather take outdoors "things"- pictures myself.. I don't do that well with human portraiture.
This is really great shot. I actually like the rail being out of focus in the distance.
Great perspective.
I'm wondering if my two guesses are the same as @clarissajohal 's. :)
Nice perspective. Interesting sign...love it when they state the obvious for those who don't get it, I guess. ha A total tease for all of us re: the great news. *waits*
@pocketmouse I think they're about the same price, if anything the 15-85mm is a bit cheaper but not significantly. Judging by the types of photos you take, you'd be better off with the 15-85mm over the 10-22mm in my opinion. It's still wide (this was taken at its widest angle) but versatile, as I say it's really sharp and the colours that come out of it are nice. I love using my 10-22mm but it's only really appropriate for landscapes and architecture.
@pocketmouse 72mm, so not too big. a common size so you can always swap filters. honestly, the only ef-s lenses i would consider apart from the two i have is the 17-55mm f/2.8 - larger aperture, less range.
been a bit quiet on here so only just seen this, great wide angle shot....was gonna ask you about 10mm lense as i remember you used it on a building a few months at night. but reading down the thread looks like you already answered some questions on it, i'll look in to prices.
:) I did the same thing today actually - brought my camera to work & snuck out during lunch to find "inspiration"
Love it :D
Great perspective.

Well, that sounds a lot weirder than I intended.
I am afraid of the trains, very afraid
