My contribution to the B&W-21 challenge on shadow... don’t worry I won’t select my photo :-) but I thought that posting some would encourage other 365’er to contribute!
Ok..I'm back...I've been trying to work on these and get high contrast...really pressed with this one. Would you tell me how you got the exposure for this and whether it was processed in post. Hope you don't mind my asking...thnks

Hi, Madeleine. Thanks for your comment, happy that you like this picture.
I have indeed cropped it and processed it. The original image is in colour.
As post processing (using the basic photo editor on my iPad) , i cropped it (i am using a fixed 24mm lens), turned it in black and white and pushed the contrast and the ton (more towards a bicolore).
I think that the main factor for this photo is that it was taken at end of the afternoon, when the sun was already quite low and hitting the facade almost orthogonally.
I was going around and in the mood to play with shadow. I first saw the shadow of the statue on the facade, and then the effect that the sun has on the two men walking out of the arcade. I shot this photo almost instantaneously from where I was, with my fixed 24mm. I then moved to have a better frame and took two other photos with a much better framing, but less interesting subject.
At the end of the day, I selected the first one because of the higher contrast with the white shirt and the facade was actually more white (the auto white balance on my canon), and despite the fact that I had then to crop it (which I usually try to avoid...) I hesitated also to take the one with the lady in white shirt, which is much better framed.
